Insurance Companies Snub Victims of Dayton, Ohio Tornadoes

The last week of May, 2019 proved to be a devastating one to the residents in and around Dayton, Ohio, as multiple tornadoes ripped through the area with a vengeance. The National Weather Service says that "at least an EF3 tornado with winds up to 140 mph" struck the city of Beavercreek in Greene County, Ohio. It says similar winds hit Trotwood in Montgomery County and they continue to survey damages to the entire area.”

In the following days, the National Weather Services stated, "Upon further review of damage by NWS survey teams, the tornado that moved across Montgomery County from west of Brookville through Trotwood to Dayton to Riverside is now rated as an EF4 tornado with estimated maximum winds of 170 mph." Clearly, the NWS included the city of Dayton and its residents in their determination of where at least one tornado hit. Why then, is our office getting inundated with calls from city residents stating that their insurance companies are not helping them with their claims?

On May 30th, 2019, the Dayton Daily News reported, “The already staggering numbers kept rising by the hour Wednesday as it was confirmed that 13 tornadoes hit the Dayton-area on Monday night, according to new National Weather Service investigations.” The article continued to state that there were over 200 injuries reported, and at least 360 homes had suffered heavy damage in the area.
